Black Tot Historic Solera

Comming Soon

Black Tot Historic Solera is a decadent and elegant rum which has been aged in oak barrels that have been seasoned with Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherries, before being further aged through a traditional 3-tier Solera process. Solera’s magic lies in blending rums of various ages.

The younger rum interacts with the concentrated essence of older expressions, acquiring richer characteristics with each step. This continuous marriage between these various ageing rums results in a rum showcasing remarkable depth and character.

Historic Solera is best enjoyed neat and in bold, rum-forward cocktails.

Solera Process

The Solera system, traditionally used in sherry production, has been masterfully adapted for Black Tot Historic Solera Rum, resulting in a spirit of unparalleled richness and complexity. Crafted using an authentic three-tiered, 70-year-old Sherry cask Solera system, this rum boasts deep, nuanced flavours.

Our award-winning Black Tot Rum Finest Caribbean 19 undergoes additional ageing in Oloroso and PX Sherry casks before entering the 46 Sherry butt Solera system. In this intricate process, the rum is first given time to mature in the Sherry casks, where it absorbs their rich flavours. After spending a year in each criadera (tier), a portion of the oldest rum is drawn (saca) for bottling. The cask is then replenished (rociado) with rum from the next tier, allowing the process to continue seamlessly through the tiers.

The final criadera, known as the Solera, always retains a portion of the original rum, ensuring that each bottle is a blend of rums of various ages. This method adds depth, complexity, and the unique flavors of Jerez, resulting in a consistently high-quality rum that offers a taste experience unlike any other spirit.

    Guyana

Guyana historically has been one of the world’s leading producers of molasses and rum, and it was undoubtedly the heart of the Navy Rum blend.
